Owners list of Triumph TR2's-TR3's-TR4's from around the globe
Note: A new site for TR owner listings has been developed by Corey Sherman called the International Triumph TR Registry. The registry is a database containing all the Triumph models from TR2 through TR8 and is model specific. It allows for the input of many details and also a photo. I encourage anyone who wishes to list their car here to list it on the registry pages as well. http://www.trregistry.com/start/registry/html/

'59 TR3A TS57799L I purchased this car from Lt-Cdr Pete Johnson who was on a NATO assignment in Halifax, N.S. in 1997. He had always used the car as a driver. He rescued the car from a field about 15 years ago and gradually did a full mechanical restoration. The car still has a Hawaiian safety inspection sticker and a USN gate pass from Virginia, so it has really been around. I installed a complete interior, new generator, and new kits in the carbs. I am just having a blast with this little car. My wife and I took it to VTR in Portland, Me last
year. If you are out there Pete, drop me an eMail and I'll send you some pictures. Anyone coming to Nova Scotia, check out www.batans.ns.ca/

- '58 TR3A, TS22823L It was originally a California car and we found it in
Missouri this summer. We attempted to drive it home to Victoria, British
Columbia but only got as far as New Mexico before it got too hot, a few problems
and our confidence waned, so we had it shipped home. It is mostly an
original car and drives like a dream. I had owned a new 1968 Spitfire MK 3 in
college but am more impressed with this older TR3. Bigger wheels, stronger
engine and throaty exhaust make it a better drive.

-'60 TR3A - TS 75402 Built 09 May 1960 and delivered to Australia. Original owner unknown but was a Primrose yellow car with black interior. Sometime around 1975 it was bought by Kel Ricci (Victoria, Australia)
and turned into a racing car, painted white and raced in historic races for some 15 years. Not street registered and used only for racing.
-'63 TR4 CT 26742 which doubles as the family's second car. My interest in Triumphs goes back to the 1960s when I was still living in the U.S. (Southern California to be specific). I then owned a TR3 that was my principal means of transport, as well as taking part in the occasional slalom etc. A thirty plus year break while I moved first to New Zealand (1972-1990) and then to Australia (1990 to present), raised a family and did all those usual sorts of things. So now, retired and able to indulge once again in those earlier passions, I am
back into it bigger than ever.

-'62 TR3B, TCF 36L red with black interior, 2138cc that I have owned since 1970. It was autocrossed from 1970 until 1978 or so, when we changed to a TR4. The TR3B won the 1974 National Solo II
Championship where I took 4th. I wound up taking three 4th places at the nationals in those years (in three trips to the Nationals). I did win the Northeast Divisional Championships in the 3B in 1976. Later, I went road racing in the TR4 and won the 1982 New England Championship in E Production and 3rd at the NE Div runoffs at Pocono. I guess
you might say I really enjoy competition and especially like the Triumph! The TR3 is undergoing restoration and will find its way back onto the road in the spring, with a little luck!

- '58 TR3A Original owner. 8TS 27489 LO - Black with red interior. Impeccably restored to original in 1990 and Don drives it every chance he gets! He's done over 37000 miles since and it has been featured on the front cover of Moss Motors Magazine. Last August Don spent 4 weeks in England, visited 16 local TR club groups and attended the TR Register International Weekend south of Bath. The Triumph factories in Canley near Coventry have been torn down and Don is the one who proposed that
the Triumph Clubs build a monument on the site where all our Triumphs were built. The monument will be erected on Herald Avenue sometime in 1999.

- '54 TR2 TS4953 "0" UK registration 305 CMG (original plate) Original engine number TS5338E Replaced with a factory rebuild TS866FR Bodywork British Racing Green, interior red. It has had a rebuild a number of years ago. Original green logbook for the car, showing that it was first registered on 17th December 1954 to Lord Hugh John Vaugan Emlyn, Tenby Castle, Carmarthen, South Wales. Then it came into the possession of John Hadwen Kirkland of Cornwall, who seemed to move around a bit, in 1958, the month of the change is not readable.
It was then owned by Gorden Robin Kingston Lyon (Major) of Whatcombe, Dorset from October 1961, ending with a gentleman named "Alf Hickin" of Warwickshire in November 1964, one year before I was born! (That makes me 33 to avoid any maths!). There is then a gap before copies of the "Modern" type log book take up the story with a Peter Francis Bowles of North Walsham, the person who had the restoration done, who parted with the car to a Nigel James Borrett of Corpusty, Norwich in September 1996. This gentleman then sold it to
myself in August of 1998.I would be interested in any information that would fill in this gap, it does appear that the car was off the road for a while, as The DVLA declare it registered on 1st July 1982 with a note stating that it was previously registered and/or used before this date and declared manufactured 1954.

- 59' TR3A TS54979L My first TR was a white 1961 TR3, with a hardtop. Drove the
car from 1965 until 1976 when my father “totaled” it, or so I thought. The
car sat on cinder blocks for 6 years until I encouraged my father to “get over
it” and sell it. A guy from Long Island bought it for $400. That day I found
out that the car could have been restored! Too late! For the next 20 years I
searched for a replacement, finally finding a burgundy colored TR . I
told the owner that if he could drive it the 60 miles north to my house I’d
buy it. He did and I bought it.

Milwaukee, Wisc. This was my first car! She was owned by Dr. Seymore Danoff, a
dentist. I entered in many rallyes, drags (17.01 qtr!), and Gymkahnas, and took
some firsts. The car was in a Frostbite 500 Rallye when a big snowstorm turned
the rallye into a race. After storage in a barn for a
decade, it started right away, once the mechanic put the battery in the right
way, and I drove it to Connecticut without the generator. It went through a
ground up from 1987-89.

-'62 TR3B TCF 1255L Colour black, upholstery vinyl red with white piping, heater, no overdrive, adjustable steering column, black
tonneau and top, disk wheels The car was shipped to California and has remained in the area, judging on the limited data I have. The last tax sticker on the license plate, 560BST, was dated 1983, so I assume the car went off the road then.
Not surprising, as the cylinder had cracked, big ends gone and the crankshaft broken A sticker on the window stated UCLA, hence my assumption of where the car has stayed all
its life. It had been resprayed to gold with two black stripes. An attempt of a rebuilt was made, as the car was missing all chrome parts and the rear wings had been paint
stripped. The car was shipped to the Netherlands in 1990. In 1995 a total restoration was
completed. I have stayed to the original colour scheme. Since then the car has participated in numerous classic rallies like the "Tulip Rally" and has also won prizes at a few Concours
d'Elegance.
-'64 TR4 CT37153L Original colour Wedgewood Blue with dark green upholstery. Exported to California, imported in the UK in 1990. Someone started with the restoration, but did not finish. In 1995 the car was acquired as "Restoration Project" by the TR Register in England. The car was selected because of the state it was in, being such that an amateur could do the restoration. This would give an example what a "home" restoration could look like. During 1996 and 1997 the car was restored in a series of seminars
under management of the TR Register by well known UK TR restoration companies like Revington TR (anti roll bars front and aft, race-rally springs, bushes etc), TR
Enterprises (road/rally exhaust, camshaft, flowed head, balanced engine parts and alternator), support from Moss for rebuilding gear box and overdrive etc.. Almost monthly there was a feature on the restoration in TR Action, the magazine of the TR Register. Chassis, engine, gearbox, rear axle, body, upholstery etc. When finished Classic Car magazine featured a very positive 5-page
story on the car in Summer 1997. As the car was stripped when the Register allowed me to acquire the car I opted for Jaguar BRG and camel coloured upholstery. The car is fitted with Halda equipment and has participated in a few Classic car rallies.

The car actually hit a fire-hydrant at about 50 MPH on the front passenger side. What a mess. but all is well now with exceptions to a great body fit between the fender and the hood. It has the distinction of having parts from a 1957, the 1958, a 1959 I previously owned for about 6 years until a former friend totaled it, and a 1960.

I've owned the car (since 1965!), I've been telling everyone it's a 1960. It
turns out the car was built in August or September 1959. I believe I'm only the
second owner, having purchased the car from an older couple after I graduated
high school. As was often the case, when Triumphs were imported, the calendar
year was (mis)labeled the model year. So the NJ title I got listed the year as
1960. Our Triumph was stored in my parents garage in Fort Lee NJ from around
1974 until 2001, when we brought it down to our home in Florida for a
restoration (Not a frame-up). My oldest son, Jess just turned 15, and he wants
to drive the same car I drove as a teenager. He's learning about the TR from the
inside-out, and we're enjoying every moment spent on the restoration.

Just bought this black on black beauty with 94k original miles (assuming its not 194 or 294k !). A thing of beauty that I am hoping to drive on a regular basis as soon as I freshen it up. I have been very impressed with the supportiveness of all TR enthusiasts. Please don't hesitate to send me all stories, rumors and anecdotes regarding any aspect of your TR experience.

Colorado Springs, CO
- '59 TR3A TS57347L It is my driving restoration. It was originally powder
blue, is now red and will be powder blue again. It needs work, but I do drive it
around the neighborhood. Much of it is original, so there is much that needs to
be replaced. An overdrive was added. It looks pretty good from 20 yards. It will
never be a concourse car, so I am going to keep it mostly original with some
modern updates for dependability. My plan is for it to be my daily driver on
nice days, which is most of the summer here in Colo Springs. However, everything
I am going to do will be easily reversible to bring it back to original, except
for the urethane bushes.

previously in Florida and Louisiana. Unknown total mileage. Mileage since V8

- '54 TR2 TS 5038 O, Engine Number TS 5384 I bought the car in February 1976. From the records it left the factory at 8.30 am on 10
December 1954, made in BRG, red leather, fawn top and tonneau, wire wheels, overdrive and heater. The car looked really good when I bought it
having just been a concourse car, although the standard was pretty low in those days and it got points for its age (compared to TR5s and 6s). I
drove it till 1980 then spent 3.5 years on a body off rebuild. After a couple of years of relatively low mileage and showing it, it got best TR2 in
the TR Register Concourse in 1987 and 88, I started using it regularly and it has now done about 60,000 miles since the rebuild. It needs another
paint job and tidy up. The car is currently unregistered while I figure out what to do with it eg. rebuild it, tidy it up or just keep using it as is.
It still goes very well and is OK mechanically. It has New South Wales registration number TR 1954, which took me years of badgering public officials to acquire.

Originally white with red leather trim, white soft top and screens. The previous owner painted it two-tone white over black. It remains this way. I have done a complete mechanical rebuild and repairs to the body. It really could with a respray and new battery box .Oklahoma registration was CET996, British registration now YSK143. Fondly remembered - '58 TS 36131 . It was
originally Pearl White with a black leather interior, white top and sidescreens. After a complete rebuild which included a replacement chassis and engine, full bodywork and mechanical rebuild, retrim and respray, I changed the interior and top to red. apart from that it was to original specification. The car was originally supplied to San Francisco, and I bought it after it had been reimported from there in 1989. I sold the car to a gentleman from Denmark in July 1997.Californian registration was FZR305, British registration
was ESJ208. I don't know what its Danish registration is!

number plate has these color codes. Bought it at a farm auction in Dalton City,
IL in April, 1999 thanks to Ken Gano having put notice of the car onto the TR
list. Car was restored in the early 80's by a high school student and his father and grandfather. Parked for about 15 years, occasionally
run, before the auction. Car is now fully disassembled as I slowly restore
it. Plan to have it ready for VTR 2003 or 2004.

Options include wire wheels, heater, rear seat, adjustable steering column, and tonneau cover. The car has no rust and is excellent original condition. It has been repainted once since it was new.

- '56 TR3 TS 10501LO I own this car a year now. It is in good condition and is
a perfect driver. It has steel wheels and ear wheel spats, which looks very
funny. I'm still dreaming of restoring a RHD long-door TR2 sometime.

- '60 TR3A TS 76006L with a TR4 engine in it # CT 4402E I grew up in
the UK but had a Canadian Mom & English Dad. I graduated from Medical School
in London, England in 1972 and am a rural Family Physician here in Three Hills
Alberta. We belong to the Calgary MG & Vintage Car Clubs. I think there are
3 or 4 other TR3's in Calgary. We host the British cars at our local Cruise
Night, on June 02 this year, if you'd like a nice long drive to join us! Last
year we had about 50 Brit cars joining over 1000 special interest N American
vehicles. We display the Brit cars separately in the car parks of our Medical
Clinic. I happened to see the TR3A I bought in the Auto Trader-it was for sale
in the town of Hanna-a small rural place 1 hour East of Three Hills. After
permission from the wife to buy it, I drove it home and it certainly pulls very
well although the interior, seats, body are all tatty. It is a sort of signal
red color, having been very badly re-sprayed at some point. There is minimal body
rust and virtually no frame rust. The engine is I believe rebuilt, and
definitely the larger TR4 engine from the number which was not visible at
purchase due to corrosion on the block! It had a TR4 valve cover with a central
breather orifice blocked off. It came with the original TR3A valve cover which I
have cleaned up and fitted. The rear brake adjusters and handbrake cables were
seized solid so I have replaced all that stuff. The glove box was missing &
has been replaced. Heater hoses I have replaced, also the water return pipe,
heater valve has been sandblasted, cleaned & I have painted the little round
knob green. I replaced the existing Delco Remy coil with a Lucas item, replaced
the rotor and plugs, painted the rear diff cover and brake drums and so the list
goes on.

Jack raced a TR-4A for 24 years in SCCA, competing at the Runoffs from 1980 to 1993.
- '55 TR2 CT 7156L which I bought in college in 1972. A complete restoration was finished in 1992, and I drive the car about 5,000 miles a year.
- '61 TR4 CT 311L which I bought from the original owner in 1994. It was raced in the early 60's, then had served as a donor car for another TR-4 racer. The body shell is rust free, but with lots of dents. The engine has a Kastner 'D' cam, 10.5:1 compression and 42DCOE webers. Also lots of fun to drive.
- ??? TR250, partially restored and awaiting further restoration (for the moment it has taken a back seat to a 1965 E-Type which is now nearly done).

Imported new to Norway back in 1964. The car was restored in 1987 - 1988, and I
have started on a rolling restoration as the car is too good for a complete
rebuild. We do not have too many days with top-down weather over here, but the
few we get makes it all worth while, and the Triumph gives me something to do
during the dark winter months.

- 58' TR3A TS 24301 In point of fact we do not currently have a Triumph on the road as it suffered a broken frame as a result of a recent collision. However, we have now obtained a "new frame (together with a bunch of other parts) and are currently (January 2001) embarking on a project to coalesce every thing into one working (we hope!) entity If we can get sufficiently organized, we hope to publish photos of the progress of the work as we go along
